Terms of Service

These terms apply to work carried out by Artec Automotive at 1421 Old County Rd, Ste C, Belmont, CA 94002, and to the use of this website. Leaving a vehicle with us, or authorising work, means accepting them. They were last updated in August 2026.

Estimates and authorisation

We give a written estimate before starting work. California law requires this, and requires that we obtain your authorisation before exceeding it — we will not carry out additional work or charge more than the estimate without contacting you first and getting your agreement.

Estimates are based on what is visible at the time. Older vehicles, seized fasteners and damage found once a component is removed can change the scope of a job. When that happens we stop, tell you what we have found, and price it before continuing.

Prices shown on this website are starting rates for the work described. They are not quotes. A quote follows an inspection of your vehicle.

Booking an appointment

Submitting the form on this website is a request, not a confirmed booking. We will contact you to confirm a date and time. Sending an enquiry does not create a contract and does not constitute a quote.

If you cannot make a confirmed appointment, please let us know as early as you can so the slot can be offered to someone else.

Payment

Payment is due on completion, before the vehicle is collected. We accept cash, debit and major credit cards. Larger jobs — restoration, fabrication and extended projects — may require a deposit or staged payments, which will be agreed in writing before work starts.

Vehicles are released once payment has cleared. Where payment remains outstanding, we may exercise a mechanic’s lien over the vehicle as permitted by California law.

Parts

We use genuine, OE-equivalent or specified aftermarket parts depending on the job and your preference, and we will tell you which we are proposing. Parts carry the manufacturer’s warranty, which we will pass through to you; we do not extend a separate warranty beyond that.

Parts supplied by the customer can be fitted at our discretion, but we cannot warranty either the part or the labour associated with it, and we may decline where fitting a part would be unsafe.

Replaced parts are available for return on request. Please ask before the work is carried out, as some parts are returned to the supplier as cores.

Our work

We warrant our workmanship for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first, on repairs where the parts were supplied by us. This covers our labour. It does not cover normal wear, damage caused by an unrelated fault, work carried out elsewhere afterwards, or vehicles used for competition.

If something we have done is not right, bring the vehicle back and we will look at it. Tell us before having the work redone elsewhere, as we cannot assess or take responsibility for a repair we have not seen.

Collection and storage after completion

Please collect your vehicle within three business days of being told it is ready. Space is limited, and vehicles left longer may be charged daily storage at our published rate, which we will tell you in advance.

A vehicle left for more than 30 days after completion without contact or payment may be subject to lien sale procedures under California law.

Personal belongings

Please remove valuables, documents and personal items before leaving the vehicle with us. We are not responsible for personal property left in a vehicle.

Vehicle storage service

Where you store a vehicle with us under our storage service, separate terms apply covering the storage period, access, insurance and the condition in which the vehicle is accepted and returned. Those terms will be provided and agreed in writing before a vehicle is accepted into storage.

Protective film, coating and tint

Paint protection film, ceramic coating and window tint are applied to the paint and glass in their condition at the time of application. Existing chips, scratches and defects are not removed by these products unless correction work has been agreed and carried out first.

Manufacturer warranties on film and coating are provided by the manufacturer, on their terms, and are subject to their care and maintenance requirements. We will explain those requirements and provide the documentation.

Window tint is applied to comply with California Vehicle Code requirements. Where you request a configuration that would not comply, we will tell you, and any resulting citation or removal cost is your responsibility.

Text messages

If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive text messages, we may send you appointment confirmations and reminders, updates on work in progress, notification that your vehicle is ready for collection, estimates and approval requests, and — only if you have separately opted in — occasional offers and service reminders.

Messaging frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply.

To opt out at any time, reply STOP to any message. You will receive a single confirmation and no further texts, apart from anything you specifically request afterwards.

For assistance, reply HELP or visit artecautomotive.com. You can also call the shop on (650) 292-2435.

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

We will not share your mobile number or your consent to receive text messages with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.

See our Privacy Policy at artecautomotive.com/privacy-policy/ for how we handle your information, and these Terms of Service at artecautomotive.com/terms-of-service/ for the terms that apply to our work.

Photography

We photograph work in progress for our records and, sometimes, for our website and social media. Vehicles are photographed, not people, and we obscure or omit registration plates. If you would prefer your vehicle not to be shown publicly, tell us and we will not use the images.

Liability

We carry insurance covering vehicles in our care. Our liability for any claim is limited to the cost of the work carried out, except where the law does not permit that limitation.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of use, loss of earnings, or the cost of alternative transport.

We are not responsible for pre-existing faults, or for the failure of a component we did not supply or work on.
